About this course
Tec 40 Trimix Instructor
The PADI Tec 40 Trimix Instructor course sits firmly in the upper reaches of technical diving education, preparing already highly qualified instructors to teach the PADI Tec Basics, Tec 40 and Tec 40 Trimix Diver courses. This is not an entry point into technical instruction; it is a specialised rating for instructors already deeply established in the tec diving world.
Run over seven intensive days, the course assumes a serious depth of prior experience, including existing Enriched Air and Deep Diver instructor ratings, a Tec 45 Diver certification, dozens of logged EANx and decompression dives, and a solid trimix diving background. Building on that foundation, the course develops your ability to teach the theory and in-water skills of introductory technical and trimix diving to a professional standard.
Much of the work focuses on how to instruct rather than simply how to dive: structuring tec theory sessions, running confined and open water skill development for gas switches, decompression procedures and equipment configuration, and evaluating candidates against PADI technical standards with precision.
Completing the course, alongside the associated Tec Diver Trimix Instructor exam, authorises you to teach PADI Tec Basics, Tec 40 and Tec 40 Trimix Diver courses, extending your instructor status meaningfully within the technical diving community.
